Overview

SoberUp ("we", "us", "our") helps you track your sobriety, cravings, savings, and reasons for quitting. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We designed SoberUp to keep the amount of personal data we collect to a minimum.

Information we collect

Account data. When you sign up (or link your anonymous account) we store an email address and an encrypted password managed by our authentication provider. We also store an authentication token so you stay signed in on this device.

Sobriety data you enter. Substance selection, quit date, spending amount, cravings you log, journal entries, reasons, and onboarding answers. This information stays tied to your account and is used solely to power the features you see in the app.

Subscription state. Whether your account is Free or Pro, which product you're subscribed to (Weekly or Yearly), and when your current period ends. We never see or store your payment card details.

Device & usage data. App version, operating system, crash diagnostics and anonymized product-analytics events (screens viewed, buttons tapped) so we can fix bugs and improve the product.

How we use your data

  • To operate the SoberUp app and show your personal streak, savings, and history.
  • To send you optional email reminders you opt into.
  • To improve reliability, security, and performance.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Subscriptions & payments

Paid subscriptions on iOS are processed by Apple. We receive a subscription status (active, trial, cancelled) but we do not receive or store your payment card details.

Service providers (subprocessors)

A small number of vetted providers help us run the service. They only process data on our behalf, under contract, and for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Apple StoreKit — processes subscription purchases and reports entitlement status.
  • Supabase (via Lovable Cloud) — hosts our database, authentication, and server functions.
  • PostHog — anonymized product analytics and crash diagnostics.
  • Despia — packages the web app as a native iOS shell.

Data storage & security

Your data is stored with our cloud provider using encryption in transit and at rest. Only you (via your authenticated account) and a small number of authorized SoberUp operators can access it, and only when necessary to run the service.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Settings → Delete Account), we remove your personal data from our production systems within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated analytics that no longer identify you may be retained to improve the product.

Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live (including California under the CCPA/CPRA and the EU/UK under the GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and associated data (Settings → Delete Account, or email us).
  • Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of email reminders from Settings, or of analytics from your device settings.
  • Sign out from Settings to end your session on this device.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Children

SoberUp is intended for adults 18+ and is not directed to children.

Changes

We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be highlighted inside the app before they take effect.
